Anticipating Worship: Eighteenth Sunday after Pentecost, October 12, 2025—Generosity / Gratitude

Image
Gratitude grows when we realize how little we deserve and how much God has given. None of us can claim that God owes us anything—yet He pours out blessings, both for this life and for eternity. His generosity is stunning, and it moves our hearts to thank and praise Him in return. Want to hear more? See you this weekend: Saturday at 5:15 p.m. • Sunday at 8 a.m. • Sunday at 10:30 a.m.

Turn Your Everyday Spending into Support for Emanuel School!

Image
Introducing: The Emanuel Scrip Program Hey Emanuel family! We want to share one of the easiest ways you can directly support our school's ministry without ever changing your budget: the Emanuel Scrip Program . Many of us think Scrip is just for families saving for tuition, but it's a powerful tool for all of us ! When you participate, you help keep Christian education affordable for all families. How Does Scrip Work? Scrip is simply purchasing gift cards for stores you already frequent (like Kwik Trip, Walmart, and many more). The magic is that the retailer gives a percentage of the purchase price back as a rebate. This rebate is then split up to benefit the entire ministry: 30% goes directly to Emanuel Lutheran School. This money helps cover operating costs, fund classroom needs, and keep tuition rates affordable. 70% is your rebate to designate! What Do You Do with Your 70% Rebate? As a participant in the program, you have three easy choices for where your 70% goes: Specifi...

A Recital Celebrating Our New Pipe Organ

Image
Mark your calendars! We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Steven Hoffman, a former Emanuel Lutheran School student, will be returning to our church for a special organ recital on our new pipe organ, Parsons Pipe Organ Opus 57. On Sunday, October 19, at 2:00 PM, join us for an afternoon of beautiful music performed by one of our own. Dr. Hoffman's journey in music began right here in seventh grade, with organ training from Mrs. Judi Thoma while attending Emanuel. Since then, he has dedicated his life to the art of sacred music, earning the Bachelor of Music degree from the Lawrence Conservatory of Music, his Master of Music from the University of South Dakota, and a Ph.D. in organ performance from the University of Michigan, where he studied with the renowned Marilyn Mason. Dr. Hoffman currently serves at King of Glory Lutheran Church and St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and Campus Center, and also serves as a Lecturer in Music at the University of Wyoming. As a performer, he has presen...

Anticipating Worship: Seventeenth Sunday after Pentecost, October 5, 2025—INCREASED FAITH INCREASES DUTY

Image
As someone rises through the ranks at work, there are typically benefits: higher salary, more authority, and better benefits. However, there is often a corresponding increase in responsibility: longer hours, more meetings, raised expectations. So, if someone is offered a promotion, they might ask, “Is this worth it?”It is similar in God’s kingdom. As our faith grows, there are obvious benefits: the comfort of knowing you are a redeemed and loved child of God, the peace of knowing your eternity is secure. However, increased faith also increases duty. There are ever more opportunities for service. This week, Jesus has sharp words for those who want the benefits of being Christian but would shirk those responsibilities. However, to lead us to take up those responsibilities, our Savior doesn’t threaten or cajole. He helps us see that while increased faith increases duty, increased duty increases delight. The believer knows he serves the One who came to serve us first. Just as Christ’s se...

Congratulations to both our A Team and B Team volleyball players on their incredible seasons!

Image
Last weekend, our B Team finished as tournament runners-up, bringing home second place. This success follows our A Team's second-place finish in their tournament the previous weekend. These teams have worked hard all season, demonstrating dedication and teamwork. We are so proud of the way they have used their athletic gifts, not only to achieve success on the court but also to serve as an example to others. "Whatever you do, keep working at it with all your heart, as for the Lord and not for people, because you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. Keep serving the Lord Christ!" — Colossians 3:23-24 (EHV) See photos from the B Team's tournament here: B Team Volleyball Photo Gallery
