Lunch Menu Changes

Image
The lunch menu for February has changed due to the availability of food items. The menu pictured below is the most up-to-date menu (see the revised date at the top). You can also view the menu on the Google Calendar found at  https://www.emanuelnl.org/calendars  (scroll down to view Emanuel Lutheran School Calendar). An updated lunch menu calendar can also be picked up in the school office.

Sports Photos & Ordering

Attention all Basketball & Cheerleading parents,  Sports Photo Order forms were sent home last. The deadline to return the order form and money is this Friday, Feb 3rd . Harmann will be returning to Emanuel on Friday to pick up the order forms and take additional pictures . If you have students on the following teams, please send them with their uniforms again that day. We will be retaking the team photos for Cheerleaders, B team Girls, and B team Boys. This pairs up perfectly with Emanuel's home games on Friday night! On Friday, Feb 3rd, Harmann will also be around the school taking candid pictures of recess, gym, art, and classroom activities to be used for the yearbook. Again, please remember to return your photo order form by this Friday. Students in cheerleading and both B teams, please remember to bring your uniform to school as we will be taking your team pictures that day also.

Please note that if your child was previously seen by Seal-A-Smile in September, they will also receive a follow-up appointment on January 30th.  If you have any questions about Seal-A-Smile or if you are unsure if your child is signed up, please contact the School Office.

The Savior's Sermon

Image
Join us for worship this weekend as we study Jesus' well-known Sermon on the Mount in a new worship series called "The Savior's Sermon." The Greek word epiphany means “appearance.” In the first half of this church season called Epiphany, we saw Jesus appear on the scene, beginning his ministry. He calls his disciples. It is not long before large crowds start following Jesus around Galilee. So, in the second half of this season, Jesus is going to teach us what it means to be one of his followers. Jesus does this through the most famous sermon of all time. It is not delivered while standing in a pulpit but while sitting on a hill. Elevated above the crowd, Jesus’ voice would carry through the air. His followers hung on his every word as the Christ talked about living an authentic Christian life. It is called the Sermon on the Mount. Our worship over the next few weeks will follow this pattern:  Trust in God’s Strength You Are . . . So Be Live a Holy Life Love Your Enemi

Exciting News from Scrip!

SCRIP is as easy as purchasing a gift card! Buy gift cards through the SCRIP program on purchases you already make (like gas, groceries, & restaurants) and a portion of that purchase can go towards your child's school tuition fees.  Emanuel's Scrip program is now even more beneficial! Previously 60% of the rebate portion would go towards your designated tuition costs or reimbursement, but this year that percentage has increased to 70%. That means even more money for parents to put towards tuition costs! The remaining 30% is disbursed by the Coordinating Council- designations to include ELS tuition assistance, School Fee Fund, and Scrip operations.  For more information about the Scrip program, visit https://www.emanuelnl.org/scrip . If you have any questions about Scrip or want to purchase Scrip cards, please call or come into the Emanuel office.

Pizza Fundraiser Results

Image
The information took a while, but it was well worth the wait! The official numbers are in, and our 2022 pizza fundraiser brought in a grand total of $25,416.73 in profit. We certainly want to thank our students and their families for being salespeople, the over 150 volunteers that made and sorted the pizzas, Ort Trucking for supplying us with a refrigerated trailer to store ingredients, and all who bought and enjoyed the delicious pizzas. The money brought in will go toward various possible non-budgeted items, mostly including improvements for our playground, which is currently being studied by an action team under our Emanuel School Board. We can't wait to share those exciting plans with you; thank you for another successful pizza fundraiser!

Mary and Joseph took Jesus to safety in Egypt. God had a plan, and he protected it. God loved us so much that he sent his son, kept him safe, and then had Him carry out our salvation! Urgent Need for Substitute Teachers

Are you looking for a flexible, part-time way to serve your Savior and your school? Consider becoming a certified substitute teacher! As you may or may not know, there is an extreme shortage of substitute teachers in schools all over the country, and Emanuel is no exception. We are looking for motivated individuals who enjoy spending time with children, can manage a classroom of eager young minds, follow the plans of a classroom teacher, and are available on short notice. All that is necessary is at least a two-year degree in any field and a willingness to complete an online, self-paced training. If you are interested, please contact Principal Bill Fuerstenau for more information. See  Sub Training Requirements  for more information.

This Tuesday, 1/10, Emanuel will host an Open House

Epiphany Worship

Image
We invite you to join us in the New Year for a new worship series starting this weekend: Jesus Appears. The Gospels tell only a little about Jesus’ life as an infant. Then, St. Luke briefly discusses the desire of the boy Jesus to be in the temple. Then, Scripture falls silent, telling us nothing about almost two decades of Jesus’ life. For most of Jesus' adult life, he lived quietly in Galilee, practicing the carpentry he had learned from his adoptive father, Joseph. Jesus had no followers. Jesus was not famous. But at the exact time God the Father had appointed, Jesus left that obscurity behind. The word epiphany means “appearance.” In the Season of Epiphany, we watch Jesus begin his public ministry. Jesus makes his first appearances. And in those appearances, it quickly becomes clear that this is more than a random carpenter’s son. As Jesus appears, we see exactly who he is and what he came to do. Our worship for three weeks will follow this pattern: Jesus Appears as the Anointe
