- "I will make you fishers of men, fishers of men!" This week we sang of the great miracle Jesus did again! He showed his power in a great catch of fish. He showed his disciples and us that he can do anything, anywhere regardless of what was thought to be the best practice. Fisherman of Jesus' day fished when it was twilight or dark and in the shallow waters. Jesus took them out during the day to the deep water after catching nothing all night. Then his power was on display, more fish than their boats could hold!! Peter recognized at that moment that Jesus is GOD. Jesus took that realization to remind Peter, they would all be fishing for men, to catch them for heaven! May we work for Jesus, catching people for heaven! Check out the video that helped us visualize this great miracle!
- We cut out hearts and glued Bible passages on them to make love for the big kids. We delivered them all over school to share the love of Jesus with everyone! The cutting was a great skill to practice. Extra practice at home is encouraged! Cutting is a very important skill as your children grow.
- We practiced some large muscle movements in small group time. We walked up and down steps to encourage one foot on every step. Up the steps was fairly easy for most of the students. Down the steps was frightening for some. Have your child try the steps at home without help and see how they do! Encourage them to use the railing and one foot on every step.
- TODAY is our opportunity to lead the crowd of the Emanuel Tigers basketball game in the Pledge of Allegiance! This is a fun night to get out and see what it is like to be a "big kid" at Emanuel. One of the many opportunities our students have is to play basketball and be a cheerleader. Plan to come, experience some good basketball, have your child center court for the performance of the Pledge, and enjoy a night out at Emanuel! Each student received a voucher during the week for a complimentary $2 snack from our Athletic department! The Girls B (5th & 6th graders) will begin at 4:15p, Boys B (5th & 6th graders) about 5:15p, Girls A (7th & 8th graders) about 6:15p, and Boys A (7th & 8th graders) about 7:15p. All times after the start of the first game are approximate due to the nature of the run times of games! We will perform before the start of the A Girls game. Please arrive around 5:40p as the games have been running ahead of schedule. It is also 8th grade recognition night and BLACK OUT(dress in black!)! Please reach out with any questions and hope you all can make it out!
- Our team's professional development reminded us that heavy work is beneficial to children in different ways. Heavy work allows children to use energy their bodies are creating so quickly. Heavy work allows the body to slow down while still using energy. Heavy work creates muscle memory and definition. Allow your children to carry their own backpacks and snowbags...at the same time! It will be hard at first, but quickly they will be able to do it no problem! This transfers to the future in carrying groceries, moving boxes, and garden work. Begin now to build a culture of inclusion and involvement. Everyone loves feeling needed.
- We have the great opportunity to sing in church on Sunday, February 8, at the 10:30am service. Please plan to arrive between 10:05-10:15am. We will gather in the church basement just like for our Christmas service. We will sit together as a class for the service. After the service, we will meet you in the Gathering Area. All students are expected to attend as part of our learning process. We will be working very hard for our presentation to glorify the Lord. It is the culmination of our hard work. Praying you can all make it! Here is our song...be careful! It's catchy!! I Am A Light
- Your precious children have the great joy to present that same song at St. Joe's for the weekly worship service on February 9 at 10:30 am. Their joy and excitement is so welcomed and appreciated everywhere, but especially at St. Joe's! We will need drivers to get there and back in time for dismissal. Please Fast Direct or text me if you are able to drive! Remember to have your driver paperwork filed in the office!
- We will have our Valentine's Days February 10 and 11(Tuesday and Wednesday). On those days we will share the love of Jesus with our friends in many ways. We will exchange Valentine's. If you choose to send Valentine's(not required), please leave the TO: section blank. The From: section can have your child's name. This helps a great deal when handing out the Valentine's since our little one's don't read yet! Because some of our students come once and some come twice, the number of Valentine's vary from class to class. Here is number of valentines each class should bring:
3K AM (Monday/Wednesday) - 16 - 3K AM (Tuesday/Thursday) - 18
4K AM - 22 - 3K PM (Monday/Wednesday) - 16
- 3K Pm (Tuesday/Thursday) - 18
- 4K PM - 22
- We also have the opportunity to share a treat if you like. Sweet and healthy treats are welcome! Please send just the 6-10 servings. That worked so well at Christmas time! We will share Jesus' love in other ways through-out our days here at school as well!!
- Please send warm snow clothes EVERY DAY!! Even when there isn't snow, we use them!
Encouraging family devotions as an important part of your day is close to my heart. Here is a tool that makes devotions something your family can do...now just carve out 5 minutes a day to get close to Jesus! WELS Family Devotions
For our 3K and 4K students who also utilize Tiger Cub Care, hot lunch is an option. The lunch menu is here!
