  • This week we learned how Jesus came to be baptized.  He didn't need to be baptized.  He didn't need to be washed clean.  He didn't need to do any of that, but he did just for us!  We learned that baptism is the water and the word.  God's word with the water is the sacrament that washes us clean.  The Holy Spirit uses baptism to give us faith!  What a great blessing to receive something we do not deserve!
  • This last week we focused on the letters Ii and Tt.  The children were becoming very good at writing the letters properly and remembering their sounds.  Just a few minutes here and there helps them remember...try using letter names and sounds in the car.  No more than 2-3 minutes at a time!
  • Patterning was a strong skill overall in the classroom.  Take a look at the pictures that will come home and see if your child has the pattern in front of them or if they were being inventive!  Practice at home is so good for mental processing.  You can use any 2 items that can go back and forth(grape banana grape banana/shoe slipper shoe slipper/red blue red blue, etc.).
  • We look forward to our opportunity to lead the crowd of the Emanuel Tigers basketball game in the Pledge of Allegiance! This is a fun night to get out and see what it is like to be a "big kid" at Emanuel. One of the many opportunities our students have is to play basketball and be a cheerleader. Plan to come, experience some good basketball, have your child center court for the performance of the Pledge, and enjoy a night out at Emanuel! Each student is receiving a voucher during the week before the game for a complimentary $2 snack from our Athletic department! The Girls B (5th & 6th graders) will begin at 4:15p, Boys B (5th & 6th graders) about 5:15p, Girls A (7th & 8th graders) about 6:15p, and Boys A (7th & 8th graders) about 7:15p. All times after the start of the first game are approximate due to the nature of the run times of games! We will perform before the start of the A Girls game. Please arrive around 5:40p as the games have been running ahead of schedule. It is also 8th grade recognition night and WHITE OUT(dress in white!)! Please reach out with any questions and hope you all can make it out!
  • We began the 3rd quarter on Monday, January 12. Watch for your child's hallway spot to change after today! This is good practice in finding their name while they hang up their own things! In our professional development that our team just did, we were reminded it is so good to let children do the things they can even if it takes longer. It grows their confidence and builds their resilience. In the second part of the year, it is very important as parents to really focus on letting go of doing for your child and being there to help if needed!
  • We have the great opportunity to sing in church on Sunday, February 8, at the 10:30am service.  Please plan to arrive between 10:05-10:15am.  We will gather in the church basement just like for our Christmas service.  We will sit together as a class for the service.  After the service, we will meet you in the Gathering Area.  All students are expected to attend as part of our learning process.  We will be working very hard for our presentation to glorify the Lord.  It is the culmination of our hard work.  Praying you can all make it! Here is our song...be careful! It's catchy!!  I Am A Light
  • Your precious children have the great joy to present that same song at St. Joe's for the weekly worship service on February 9 at 10:30 am.  Their joy and excitement is so welcomed and appreciated everywhere, but especially at St. Joe's! We will need drivers to get there and back in time for dismissal.  Please Fast Direct or text me if you are able to drive!  Remember to have your driver paperwork filed in the office!
  • Please send warm snow clothes EVERY DAY!!  Even when there isn't snow, we use them!
  • Encouraging family devotions as an important part of your day is close to my heart.  Here is a tool that makes devotions something your family can do...now just carve out 5 minutes a day to get close to Jesus!  WELS Family Devotions
