- We studied a real-life giant, Goliath! David was a small, young man, but he was not afraid. He knew the Lord would be with him. His faith and trust should be in our hearts as our giant problems come our way. Whether it be several vehicles breaking down, money issues, or health concerns, God's got you!! Trust in Him. Ask Him for help. Go to Him frequently in prayer and in church.
- November Thrive Time Video Please take a few minutes to review this video. It helps us understand how our brain thinks critically. It also gave me some new ideas such as:
- There is no short cut to memorization! We can make it more enjoyable when we change the process(short or long), the sound(say or sing), or the who(on own or with others).
- Having a growth mindset helps children be willing to fail and keep trying.
- Giving children real encouragement is helpful. Saying, "Thank you for working hard" vs. "That's wonderful/perfect. Good job." Encouraging hard work and tenacity creates children who don't give up and try again.
- This week we focuesed on the letters Ww, Vv, and Yy. Similar writing motions. The children were working hard translating that to paper! We heard the sounds as we were making them too.
- As we approach winter weather, please remember to send all the appropriate warm clothes needed for your child to stay warm! It doesn't need to snow to need snow pants. Also, if your child arrives in boots, please send their regular school shoes along. Our gym shoes are meant to only be used in the gym.
- Thanksgiving days! You are invited to bring a snack for our Thanksgiving days. Healthy options are encouraged! Cheese, sausage, fruit, veggies and crackers are all great choices. We love the treats too! Remember, many friends may be bringing something so small portions are good. Servings of 6-10 are plenty! We learn on these days how to make good choices!
- We are practicing for our Christmas service in earnest now! The children are doing an amazing job in the classroom! Any extra practice at home is appreciated. In the Christmas service document, you will see dates. Those are the dates we will begin working on that part. The song "Our Christmas Show and Tell" is set to the tune "Who Made the Sky So Bright and Blue." Click in to practice "Our Christmas Show and Tell"!
Our Christmas Service is December 7 at 9:30 am. We will meet in the church basement at 9:15 am. Timing is super important for this date, please begin to plan ahead! There will be regular worship at 8:00 am finishing at 9:00 am. Parking should begin to open up after that. I would encourage you to either attend the 8:00 am service(the kids can do it!!) and then stay for our service OR arrive after 9:00 am so parking has opened up. Please invite all the family and friends to come to our service! Then share this important logistically piece to them as well! Our service will finish up about 10:05 am. We will walk out to the commons and meet you all there! The next worship service begins at 10:30 am. It works really well! Please make EVERY effort to attend as the children have worked so hard for this special assignment...they are the pastors for the service! They get to teach the church family about Jesus! It is amazing! Please reach out with any questions!
We will be sharing our Christmas cheer with our community the last week of school! We will be in need of drivers Wednesday, December 17, and Thursday, December 18, for both classes. Please consider if you would be able to shine for Jesus by driving us to some of our caroling stops! We visit some of our church family who are not able to get out and about or need some cheer! If you are interested, please reply or stop and talk as soon as possible for planning purposes! Don't forget to begin your driver paperwork in the office as soon as possible as well. EVERY student will need to bring their carseat/booster on the day(s) of caroling. The school no longer has a large supply.
Encouraging family devotions as an important part of your day is close to my heart. Here is a tool that makes devotions something your family can do...now just carve out 5 minutes a day to get close to Jesus! WELS Family Devotions
For our 3K and 4K students who also utilize Tiger Cub Care, hot lunch is an option. The lunch menu is here!
