- The biggest thing our children are learning this week is how we react to an act of God. They are watching and taking in everyone's different reactions. Let's make sure our reaction to this act of God is to rely on Him. He has everything in His control. We feel out of control because we do not know what will happen, how we will...all the questions. These questions are all HIS!! Give them to Him. Teach your children how to pray knowing God has everything under control. Teach your children that the Lord is our guidance. Demonstrate to and with your children how to shine His love to others if you are safe and able. This act of God will teach us all something. Let's be sure that our children are reminded that God is greater than any flood, and He will be with us always. Let's be sure our community knows we are together and the love of God is with us all. Here are some of the other things we focused on while at school.
- Jesus gave the first communion. He used the bread and wine. They were his body and blood. He taught his disciples to pray by demonstrating his prayers in the Garden of Gethsemene. He was persistent. He prayed three times for the suffering to be removed. He demonstrated humility by praying, "Your will be done." He showed us that our Father in heaven knows best. May we often come before the Lord with our problems and requests, our joy and rejoicing, while remembering to pray, "Your will be done."
- April Thrive Time Video - This video is a great reminder that we ALL need to find our identity in Jesus, not our work, family, or material blessings. The talk gives great reminders how to be good examples for our kids in knowing Jesus first!
- Our stories this week were focused on our Christ-centered identity. The message that God's love defines us is so powerful for young students and moms and dads!
- In small group we learned different aspects of shapes(sides, angles, descriptive words). We reviewed circle, square, and triangle. Our new shapes are rhombus, trapezoid, and hexagon. We sorted the shapes as we named them. We also began using them to mirror patterns.
