A Recital Celebrating Our New Pipe Organ

Mark your calendars! We are thrilled to announce that Dr. Steven Hoffman, a former Emanuel Lutheran School student, will be returning to our church for a special organ recital on our new pipe organ, Parsons Pipe Organ Opus 57.

On Sunday, October 19, at 2:00 PM, join us for an afternoon of beautiful music performed by one of our own. Dr. Hoffman's journey in music began right here in seventh grade, with organ training from Mrs. Judi Thoma while attending Emanuel. Since then, he has dedicated his life to the art of sacred music, earning the Bachelor of Music degree from the Lawrence Conservatory of Music, his Master of Music from the University of South Dakota, and a Ph.D. in organ performance from the University of Michigan, where he studied with the renowned Marilyn Mason.

Dr. Hoffman currently serves at King of Glory Lutheran Church and St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church and Campus Center, and also serves as a Lecturer in Music at the University of Wyoming. As a performer, he has presented organ festival programs across North America and Europe, specializing in hymn-based improvisation. In October 2017, he was honored to present recitals of improvisations on the hymns of Martin Luther at historic churches in Wittenberg, Germany, including the Castle Church, as part of the global 500th Anniversary of the Reformation.

The recital will be a wonderful opportunity for our school families and church members to witness the incredible talent and dedication of a former student and celebrate our new instrument. A light reception will follow the performance, giving us all a chance to celebrate together. We hope to see you there!
