  • Jesus is beginning His public work of teaching and preaching in our Bible lesson this week.  We learned how John the Baptist (who eats locusts and honey - EWWW!!) announced the Savior with, "Look, the Lamb of God who comes to take away the sins of the world!"  John was preparing the people, teaching them to be ready.  He was baptizing them with the water and the Word - God's Word.  Now Jesus enters the public spotlight by coming to John to be baptized.  When John completes the baptism, the heavens open and the Father speaks, "This is my son whom I love, with Him I am well pleased."  A dove descends from the heavens to Jesus, and there are all three persons of our almighty, all-loving God!  What an amazing entrance into the public ministry!  Jesus was announced to the people watching at the Jordan River as the Savior of the world.  Now Jesus will begin teaching and preaching to save the world!
  • We had our first author study.  We read several Jan Brett stories.  We learned that she enjoys writing about Alaska and all of its beauty.  We were learning about new and unique animals.  We saw similarities and differences between classic folk tales and native American folk tales.  It was amazing to watch the children's intrigue!  Check some of them out here.  The Three Snow Bears  Cozy  Those were our favorites!
  • If your child needs to be absent for a day, please use the attendance@emanuelnl.org email to communicate the absence.  You can certainly call/text/email me as well.  I also receive all of the emails to that email address as well as the office.  That email address allows for both teacher and office to be aware of the situation.
  • The Christmas DVDs are available in the office.  Please stop by at your earliest convenience to pay the $2/copy and pick them up!
  • At the beginning of the third quarter last week, the cubbies in the hallway moved.  Be sure to allow your child to search out their new spot, hang their own backpack on the hook they are able to reach, and find their folder.  These are skills for them to acquire as they grow in their independence.  As grown-ups(parents, grandparents, babysitters) it may be hard to let go of doing these things for them, but it is vitally important for them to recognize their worth and their responsibility.  Starting young helps grow their confidence!
